“This should help lower the divorce rate”
This entry has two parts. Both revolve around weddings: or lack there of.
I think something must be in the air. Yesterday was the most surreal day I have had in a long time. (I have to find new words to describe my life because “strange” is getting old hat.) So I was bored at work as usual and started checking the away message statuses of my friends. One of my life long good friends (whose wedding is to be this September) is no longer engaged. I’m not sure what happened all I know is he is “heartbroken – wish this would end”. But I found out from his sister that it’s over and the fiancé gave back the ring, blah blah blah. Now that in itself is nothing. But add that to the past couple days’ wedding shenanigans and you get very bizarre wedding circumstances. I’m starting to think no one wants me to be a bridesmaid (Which is more than fine with me). But in all honesty, is there something in the water? I mean I guess it’s good that these people are realizing now they don’t want to spend eternity together, but come on this is pure insanity. What happened to the days when engaged people actually got married?
Mike is in Old Town today cleaning out his old office. Asked me to meet him for diet Mt. Dew this morning (we don’t do coffee). So we were chatting a very nice chat actually and I think he is coming to terms with the fact that there will be no wedding. I had to tell him about all the cancelled weddings in my life recently and joking around he said “I guess us not getting married should help lower the divorce rate: just us doing our part to help save America.” As I was laughing I thought there really must be something in the air.
